Tinyseats Two Review: The Compact Rear-Facing Seat Worth Knowing About

Published 28 February 2026

If you've been researching extended rear-facing car seats, you may well have come across the Tinyseats Two — a seat that quietly gets on with doing all the right things without making a big song and dance about it. It doesn't have the marketing budget of some of the bigger brands, but among parents who know their stuff, it has built a genuinely solid reputation.

At Saunders & Smalls, we only stock seats we'd put our own children in. The Tinyseats Two is one of them — and in this review we'll tell you exactly why, who it suits, and what to watch out for.

What Is the Tinyseats Two?

The Tinyseats Two is an i-Size (R129) compliant extended rear-facing car seat designed for children from approximately 61 cm to 105 cm in height, which typically covers newborns through to children of around 4 years old, sometimes older depending on growth.

It's manufactured by Tinyseats, a Scandinavian brand with a strong focus on safety and simplicity. Like many of the best rear-facing seats on the market, it draws on Nordic car seat culture — where extended rear-facing isn't a niche choice, it's just what you do.

Why does rear-facing matter? In a frontal collision — the most common and most serious type — a rear-facing seat cradles your child's head, neck, and spine, distributing crash forces across the whole back of the seat. Forward-facing seats rely on a harness to restrain a child, putting far greater stress on the neck and spine. Rear-facing is widely accepted as significantly safer, particularly for younger children. If you'd like to understand just how much safer rear-facing is after age 2, we've covered the research in detail.

The Tinyseats Two passes the Swedish Plus Test, which is the most demanding voluntary car seat safety standard in the world. If a seat passes the Swedish Plus Test, it goes above and beyond the legal minimum — and that's something we always highlight at Saunders & Smalls when we meet families through our Smalls Install Plus fitting appointments.

You can read more about what that means in our guide to the Swedish Plus Test and why it matters.

Key Specs at a Glance

  • Safety standard: i-Size (R129), Swedish Plus Test approved
  • Height range: 61–105 cm (rear-facing throughout)
  • Fitting method: ISOFIX + support leg
  • Seat weight: Approximately 11.5 kg
  • Suitable from: Birth (with included newborn insert)
  • Forward-facing option: No — this is a dedicated rear-facing seat
  • Recline positions: Multiple, adjustable without removing child
  • Headrest adjustment: One-hand operation

One thing worth noting: the Tinyseats Two is a dedicated rear-facing seat. It does not convert to forward-facing. For some parents that feels like a limitation; we'd encourage you to reframe it. A seat designed to do one thing exceptionally well is almost always safer and more optimised than a seat trying to be all things to all journeys.

Installation — What You Need to Know

The Tinyseats Two installs using ISOFIX connectors and a support leg. There is no belt-path installation option, so you will need ISOFIX points in your car — which is standard on the vast majority of UK cars made after 2004, and mandatory on new models since 2014.

Installation is straightforward, and we'd describe it as genuinely parent-friendly:

  1. Click the ISOFIX arms into your car's ISOFIX anchors until you hear and feel a firm click
  2. Extend the support leg to the floor and adjust until there's no movement in the seat
  3. Check the recline angle using the built-in indicator — this is especially important for newborns
  4. Fit your child and adjust the harness so it sits snug across the shoulders with no slack

Fitting tip from our team: The support leg is doing a lot of work in a frontal impact — it stops the seat rotating forward and dramatically reduces the forces on your child. Always make sure it's properly extended and making firm contact with the floor. If your car has a storage compartment beneath the front seat, that can affect the leg position — bring your car in and we'll check it for you.

We offer in-person car seat fitting appointments in Somerset, and the Tinyseats Two is one of the seats we fit most often. It goes in cleanly across a wide range of vehicles, including some smaller cars where space is tighter.

Who Is the Tinyseats Two Best For?

Parents with smaller cars

The Tinyseats Two has a relatively compact footprint for a seat in this category, which makes it a strong candidate if you're driving something like a Volkswagen Polo, Ford Fiesta, SEAT Ibiza, or similar. Rear-facing seats do require the front passenger seat to move forward, but the Tinyseats Two manages this better than many bulkier alternatives. For a broader look at how different seats perform in tighter vehicles, our guide to the best rear-facing car seats for small cars is a useful starting point.

If you're specifically trying to find the best rear-facing car seat for a small car, this seat deserves a serious look. It's also worth thinking carefully about which seat position in the rear of your car offers the best protection — something that can make a real difference regardless of which seat you choose.

Parents who want simplicity

There's no bells-and-whistles complexity here. The recline adjusts smoothly, the headrest moves with one hand, and the harness is easy to thread and tighten. For parents who don't want to wrestle with their car seat every time they do the school run, this is a genuinely pleasant day-to-day experience.

Safety-first families

The Swedish Plus Test approval says it all. If your primary concern is keeping your child as safe as possible for as long as possible in a rear-facing seat, the Tinyseats Two delivers. We'd also highlight that using it rear-facing to 105 cm means many children will be protected well into their third or fourth year — far beyond what a Group 0+/1 combination seat typically offers.

What about newborns?

Yes — the included newborn insert makes this suitable from birth, provided your baby meets the minimum height of 61 cm. The recline positions available for younger babies are generous and comfortable, and we've fitted this seat for families with fresh newborns many times without any concerns.

Honest Pros and Cons

What we love:

  • Swedish Plus Test certified — above and beyond legal requirements
  • Compact enough for smaller UK cars
  • Clean, simple installation
  • Suitable from birth to 105 cm
  • One-hand headrest adjustment makes life easier

Things to consider:

  • No belt-path installation — ISOFIX required
  • Dedicated rear-facing only (no forward-facing conversion)
  • At around 11.5 kg, it's not the lightest seat to move between cars
  • Fewer colour and fabric options than some competitor brands

None of those are dealbreakers in our view — but they're worth knowing before you buy.

How Does It Compare?

The Tinyseats Two sits in a competitive field alongside seats like the Axkid Minikid 4, the BeSafe iZi Plus, and the Voksi Move. All are excellent. Where the Tinyseats Two stands out is in its balance of compact sizing, Swedish Plus Test safety credentials, and ease of daily use. If you're trying to decide between two of the most popular Scandinavian brands in this space, our Axkid vs BeSafe comparison breaks down the key differences. For a closer look at one of its nearest rivals, our Axkid Minikid 4 guide is a thorough walkthrough of what that seat offers.

If you're also considering a shorter-term rear-facing option before transitioning to a seat like the Tinyseats Two, our Axkid Movekid review covers a popular infant carrier that pairs well with this kind of longer-term seat planning.
