How it started

When Charlene's eldest child was nine months old, she discovered the world of extended rear-facing car seats. The safety data was clear — rear-facing is significantly safer for children — but finding a specialist retailer who stocked them was anything but clear. She found herself travelling considerable distances just to see the seats in person.

Then, a vehicle collision close to home changed everything. The experience brought the reality of road safety into sharp focus. Charlene made a commitment: to make expert extended rear-facing advice and fitting available to families who needed it, without the travel, without the overwhelm.

Saunders & Smalls was born from that commitment. Drawing on her Level 3 Early Years Diploma, years of hands-on experience with seats from Joie, Diono, Britax, Avionaut, and Axkid — and raising three children of her own — Charlene built a service that puts families first every time.
